{Back Yard} Flower Bed #2

Hello!

I'm back to showing off our backyard garden projects. This one, along with the last garden post, are all in the "Kids' Area" that we've fenced off. The rest of it hasn't been mulched in but some day it will be.

To catch you up on the process - we (and at this point, "we" means Doug), built the a small retaining wall to help with drainage and a slight slope of our yard. Doug then fenced it in with remaining fence boards from our privacy fence. I then started the two gardens to help bring in more garden space (gardens everywhere!) and to break up the giant 20' by 20' area.

So this corner was just the retaining wall and weeds. The chickens enjoyed it but nothing else was going on.

The above photo shows a mix of before and after. Sorry it's not the easiest to see. The rocks were free and I had to buy all these plants, unlike the other corner. I will saw that I need to go back and make sure some of the black landscaping fabric is put down all the way because of the chickens and their always digging behaviors.

The other photos just show random shots of the area.

The cinder blocks are all filled in with herbs. Lots of lavender!! The plants seem to have survived the last month with chickens and the horrible heat of Missouri.

How are your gardens? Mine are full of weeds and that'll be my job over the next couple weeks - as the heat allows me as it's over 100 heat index most days.
