{Colorado} Estes Park

We spent two nights to Estes Park but used it more as a base than a destination. We ate their food and walked down the Main Street one night. The kids were such troopers that we let them have ice cream after dinner one night and it was a cool place. If you can't read the picture, it said it uses one of 7 cone machines in existence to make their own cones.

Another fun thing we did for the kids was to take them to the Junior Ranger station. We missed the tour and little group they had but they still got all the information and become Junior Rangers, which meant a badge and some information. Plus some cute photos.

One of my cousins mentioned a Passport Book for the kids and on our first trip up the mountain (to Mount Evans), we stopped by a gift shop and picked it up. Of course, we had to buy the cute sticker. But the kids really enjoyed it and this is something we can do for future travels - inside Missouri (like to the Arch, which I want to take them to!) and outside of Missouri for future vacations.

It's a really cool book and didn't cost that much. It's divided by region and area (as you can see in yellow) and then you stamp it with the date and the local stamp. I'll continue to buy the stickers too, as it adds a little something extra (plus color!). We bought the Junior Ranger book too, which has more activities in it, but this will be a keeper. We decided to only do one as a family for now instead of one for each kid. Guess they can fight over it later.

We stayed at some cute cabins in Estes Park that had a creek nearby to play in and a playground on site, which was a blessing to let these kids get some energy out. There's a lot of car driving and sitting for kids and both mine need to move to be happy.

We did try to do a ghost tour at The Stanley, the hotel from the movie The Shining, but it was booked up. It's definitely something to look into if you're wanting to do it before you go. We went into the lobby and it was completely empty of people and it made it creepy. We walked around a bit, checking out some of the main floor (mainly to find someone), and it all was beautiful but definitely gave off some crazy vibes.
